Subject Guide to the Shelves
The Library of Congress Classification system groups materials on
the library shelves by subject area. To find something on the shelf, read from left to right with the
letters going from A to Z and the numbers going up.
If you do not see your subject in the brief outline below,
search the online catalog and note the LC Call Number where most of the
books on your topic are shelved and then browse the shelf.
