ABC-CLIO E-Reference Collection
Search or Browse by Topic E-Reference books include not only quick reference dictionaries and encyclopedias, but many books on controversial topics that offer factual information, both pro and con.

The literature collections contain full text of books on American and English literature - poetry, drama, fiction, and the Bible. Example: American Poetry 1600-1900 is a collection of 1200 books of poetry, containing more than 40,000 works from over 200 poets. (From ProQuest/Chadwick)
Oxford Reference Collection
Search or Browse by Subject Area Oxford Reference Online contains full text of over 100 dictionaries, general reference, language reference, and subject reference works from Oxford University Press.
Search AccessScience is an online encyclopedia of science and technology. AccessScience contains encyclopedia articles, dictionary terms, biographies, research updates, and science news.
Annals of American History
Search Annals of American History contains full text of over 2000 primary documents in American history, including: historical accounts, speeches, memoirs, poems, editorials, and cultural criticism. It also has multimedia files including more than 500 pictures, hundreds of video clips, and audio of famous speeches.
Search Encyclopedia Britannica and its suite contain not only full text of Britannica, but student versions, Internet guides, videos, an online dictionary , a thesaurus, an atlas and historical timelines. Search using keywords or browse by topic. A complete Spanish Version, Enciclopedia Universal en Espanol is also available.
American National Biography
Search American National Biography Online is a biographical resource on more than 18,000 people from all eras who have influenced and shaped American history and culture. Articles on important figures who have died since 1995 are being added in quarterly updates, but coverage of people in this category is not yet complete.

Digital Book Index
Digital Book Index provides links to more than 116,000 title records from more than 1800 commercial and non-commercial publishers, universities, and various private sites. About 75,000 of these books, texts, and documents are available free, while many others are available at very modest cost. This site requires registration.
The University of Virginia's Electronic Text Center holdings "include approximately 70,000 on- and off-line humanities texts in thirteen languages, with more than 350,000 related images (book illustrations, covers, manuscripts, newspaper pages, page images of Special Collections books, museum objects, etc.)" Scroll to the bottom of the E-Book page to download a free reader.
