Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Eligibility
Interlibrary Loan is used to borrow materials not available from Lakeland, OhioLINK or another local library.
Books, journal articles and other materials that circulate can be delivered to Lakeland. Students, faculty,
staff of Lakeland Community College as well as Community Borrowers that have Lakeland Library accounts
are eligible to submit Interlibrary Loan requests. There is no guarantee that all materials requested can be
found, but every attempt is made to fill each request. Click on the ILL FAQS link to the left for an ILL
information document.

Submitting ILL Requests
Before submitting an ILL request, make sure the material is not available from Lakeland, OhioLINK or local public libraries.
For magazine and journal articles, please check the OhioLINK databases before requesting. See the QUICK LINKS on the
left of this page.
ILL Form
Once you have determined the material is not available locally, print out the ILL Form. Fill out a separate form for each
request and submit it directly to a reference librarian in the Library. Complete and accurate information is essential for us to get the
material to you.
Multiple Requests
Multiple requests will be processed two per day, so please number your requests by priority. Library staff will
inform you of any copyright law limits on your request.

ILL Borrowing Policies
Costs
Normally ILL is free. However, the ILL form asks for willingness to pay due to possible fees for photocopying or
supplying material by the lending library. If there is a charge, you will be contacted prior to processing the ILL.
All charges must be prepaid at the Circulation Desk.
Arrival
Materials usually arrive in two to ten days. The Patron is responsible for checking the status of requested items
by calling 440-525-7314 to speak to the ILL Specialist. The Library will notify you when materials have arrived for
pick-up.
Loan Periods, Overdue and/or Lost Items
Photocopies are yours to keep. Books and other materials on loan from other libraries must be returned by the due date set by the lending library, usually between two and four weeks. You may return ILLs to the Circulation Desk, one of the Library drop-boxes or to your selected
pick-up location. Fines are charged for overdue ILL materials and you must pay the full fee for lost ILL items.
